Martin Kasper paints the transition. His works depict spaces. Empty spaces. More precisely, they remind of spaces.

An air of gentle melancholy evaporates. An allusion to change spreads its wings. A change of epochs beckons. Time seems to stand still, calling for a new beginning. What was once is no more, will be no more, or will soon have new purpose. The  paintings of Martin Kasper give us the space that is needed to tell the stories of his paintings right to the end. Behind a wall, the hint of a staircase leading upstairs; perhaps we discover a passageway in the rear part of the room; an open partition gives us a free view of the next (implied) room and its large windows. Or are the vertical window frames trees in the open?

In this picture, we see almost the same image again that is hanging on the front wall, and on this there is another image that is already hanging on the side wall; at the very bottom, a wooden strap floor that is somewhat unfitting of the scene. And then we notice, suddenly, that we have been standing the entire time in the atelier of the artist – everything is illusion. But our own story is true.
